KOS - Alpaca & Wool Blend, Air-Blown Yarn

Kos is an exceptionally soft, light, and airy yarn created using an innovative air-blown construction. Fine alpaca fibers and wool are gently blown into a delicate nylon tube, producing a yarn that feels fluffy and cloud-like while remaining surprisingly strong and stable. The result is a beautifully lofty yarn that creates warm, comfortable fabrics with an elegant, slightly brushed texture.

Weight & Length: 50 g | approx. 150 m - ideal for lightweight yet warm garments

Needle Size & Gauge: Recommended 4.5 mm - 5.5 mm needles, 16–18 sts over 10 cm / 4 inches

Crochet Hook Size: ~4.5 mm - 5.5 mm

Versatility: Perfect for sweaters, cardigans, hats, scarves, and soft accessories where warmth, lightness, and gentle volume are desired

Care: For best results, machine wash wool garments separately on a wool cycle using a mild wool detergent. Spin well and dry flat, preferably on a towel, to maintain shape and softness. Avoid using a laundry bag, as friction may cause hand-knitted wool garments to felt.

Alpaca fibers are naturally hollow, making them exceptionally insulating while remaining breathable. This means garments made with Kos feel warm in cold temperatures and comfortably cool when it is mild. Alpaca is also significantly warmer than traditional wool, offering excellent thermal performance without heaviness. The addition of wool provides elasticity and structure, helping finished pieces retain their shape while enhancing the yarn’s natural loft.

The raw fibers are responsibly sourced: wool from Uruguay and alpaca from Peru. Together, they create a refined, airy yarn with outstanding warmth, softness, and temperature-regulating qualities, perfect for timeless knitwear designed to be worn and loved for years.
